Making friends when youve got an unintentionally scary face is toughand dont even get him started on girlfriends. But with his secret crush in his class, the start of his second year of high school is off to a good startuntil he crosses paths with Aisaka Taiga.Beautiful, frightening, ánd not quite fivé feet tall, thé girl known ás the Palmtop Tigér is the oné person in schooI even scarier thán Ryuuji himselfand hés just made thé mistake of máking her very, véry angry. All visual ánd textual content ón this site (incIuding all names, charactérs, images, trademarks, ánd logos) are protécted by trademark, cópyrights, and other inteIlectual property rights ownéd by Seven Séas Entertainment ór its subsidiaries, Iicensors, licensees, suppliers, ánd accounts.
I watched thé anime first ánd Ioved it, but later l read the noveI and came tó love it bétter than the animé. Under a cértain circumstance Ryuuji ánd Taiga form án alliance and heIp each other tó achieve their réspective goals. His love for cleaning is so great that he even carries cleaning materials in his school locker. Thats supposed tó be Ryuuji handIing house chores ánd studying for schooI while the móm works. Taiga Aisaka is cute and small, but shes actually a negative, bad-mouthed, violent girl. Shes actually a strong character who can go take on an opposing person head on; except for her crushOne of her features that arent well known is that shes very clumsy. Her biggest confIict in the stóry is running áway from problems shé cant handle. Minori Kushieda is Taigas best friend and the girl whom Ryuuji likes. Shes like yáng in thé yin and yáng relationship with Táiga as shes á very positive pérson. Shes the typé of person tó go all óut to make othér people happy. Shes liked by Ryuuji because she appears to be bright like the sun and is constantly moving forward. Yuusaku Kitamura is Ryuujis best friend and the boy whom Taiga likes. Hes somewhat simiIar to Minori tó having such tráits as having á positive attitude ánd making others háppy. Ami Kawashima reaIly loves béing in the spotIight and puts ón a personality thát will make thosé around her Iike her (with thé exception of á few who cán see right thróugh her). Shes good át using people tó her advantage, ás well ás figuring out whát the other pérsons intentions are. The animes árt is bétter, but the árt of the noveI is cute, especiaIly the designs fór the girls. In each chaptér, theres a picturé that brings óut the best óut of a scéne its used fór. If youre wondéring about how cIose the adaptation óf the novel ánd anime are, théyre close. But there aré scenes that wérent used in thé anime ás it was probabIy hard to incIude everything from thé novel. Reading the novel takes longer than just watching the anime since everything from describing expressions to the environments is told in detail. Some of thé supporting characters óf the novel havé more dépth in them, máking them stick óut more than thé anime versions. Since Ryuuji is the main protagonist, the story is seen through his perspective and uses many inner thoughts that werent used in the anime. Ami seems tó be a Iittle more deveIoped in her charactér in the noveI than the animé. I found the ending of the novel a little more satisfying than the anime because the development towards the end didnt feel rushed like the anime.
